Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a great 2017 and wish you all a happy and healthy 2018!
As you have probably guessed by the title, I have been accepted back on the list. All the paperwork has been completed by the transplant coordinators and have been active since 09/11/17. Well, now that I’m back at work, it gives me more of a distraction and social life again. I love my job and I couldn’t ask for a better manager and colleagues. They are all so supportive and down to earth. We are like one big happy family and it’s one of the best wards I’ve worked on. I received a card and a gift card from them all when I was an inpatient. I was so emotional when I opened it and read all the lovely messages inside. They all seemed to miss me and I did too!
I’ve cut my hours down to 16 hrs a week as I was finding it too exhausting to work back up to full time. Hopefully I’ll be able to get that work/life balance right.
I’m currently watching a programme on BBC 2 about clinical trials taking place at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. I was taking part in this Liver Transplant trial featured when listed in 2015. The trail has now finished, so I wasn’t able to take part this time. I’ve met The Surgeon performing the Liver Transplant on the programme. He signed my consent form and discussed how the transplant is taken place. He seems very dedicated to his job and have been told by members of the liver team that he is well respected, and one of the top surgeons in the UK. It’s comforting to know I’m in safe hands. 😊
